This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a third grade teacher in the West Philadelphia area of the city. My students come to school every day because they know it is a safe place for them, and they will have the opportunity to read, write, work in small groups, participate in discussion groups, use manipulatives to work on math equations, and so much more. Our school also offers this low income area after-school clubs and programs, such as homework help, cooking classes, sports groups, and drama groups. I am looking to add to the many opportunities they already have by bringing technology into my classroom and allowing them to explore the world in an appropriate way. My students love to research, read, play educational games, write, and enhance their skills through technology. However my students are very energetic and require many brain breaks and break time. Some of my students come with social and emotional problems and have difficulty sitting still during the day.
My Project
There are a few items in this project. The first are mini dry erasers. We do a lot of group and individual work. Most of the time the students are erasing with their hands or a tissue. These little erasers will allow the students an easier way to correct their mistakes.
The birthday pencils are to celebrate the students birthdays.
We even celebrate summer birthdays in our class.
The word work station is so important in third grade. This station will allow the students to explore words and enhance their vocabulary in a unique and fun way.
Finally the magnetic sentence strips will allow me to teach with my sentence strips without wasting time taping them to the board. It will also allow my students to come to the board with their sentences strips and hang them with ease.
