My Students

I have a great group of kindergarteners who are eager to learn. I teach at a low-income school outside of Topeka, Kansas. They work hard and always try their best, but sometimes lack the necessary skills and materials to be successful. Additional materials and experiences will help accelerate their school success.

I work in a preschool through sixth grade elementary building.

We use a traditional school year. My school is located in a suburban/rural area just outside of our capital city.

My Project

Many of my Kindergarteners are beginning to read! We are very excited about this new adventure, and we are in need of a variety of books that we can explore. A subscription to Reading A-Z will help us to reach this goal. Not only are their a variety of books to choose from, there are books on many different levels! I have students who are just starting out reading at a level aa and students who are reading above grade level at a level G. These higher level books are sometimes harder to find since many different grade levels are using the books we have in our book room.

These on level readers, will help my students to become better readers.

We will use these books during guided reading, where I will be able to guide students through them. We will use these books during independent reading time. This will help students feel successful and want to continue to read. We will also be able to send these printable books home for students to share their reading successes with their families!
