We Love to Read!

My students need a variety of literature circle books that they can relate to. Class lit. circles allow students to develop a reading schedule, analyze the book, and respond to each through a student led curriculum.

My Students

My 8th graders are full of unique personalities. My students walk in knowing that I care about them and will do what I can to help them succeed. They appreciate the toughness of the class, not at first :) , but see why I push them to do their best all the time.

With our school being a Title 1 school, I have many students that come from low-income families.

I want to ensure that all of my students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

My Project

These books, "The Hate U Give" and "The First Part Last", are 2 amazing reads that both my students of higher level and lower level reading will fall in love with. These books, deal with situations that many of my students see on a daily basis. Students will be able to develop a personal connection with the characters and be able to see how these characters preserved when everything was against them.

Both novels will provide a way for students to engage in critical thinking and reflection as they read, discuss, and respond to books.

They will collaborate every week and discuss new challenges the characters have faced in depth.

Why read? Literature circles guide students to deeper understanding of what they read through structured, student led discussions and extended written and artistic responses.
