My students need these non fiction texts because the majority of them only get to see and read books at school. This would allow them to check our books from our classroom library to take home.

My Students

My school is located in a rural part of eastern Kentucky. It is made up of mostly free and reduced price lunch students who come from families that struggle to make ends meet.

My second graders are amazing.

I am very blessed to be their teacher. They walk into my classroom every day eager to learn something new. While most live in poverty, it never has an effect on their work ethic and their thirst for learning. If anything, it makes them that much stronger!

My Project

I think it is very important to have a variety of texts in my classroom library. My students get to go to the school library once a week, but most of them only get to read the books they check out from there.

I would love to be able to give my students to opportunity to check out and take home books from our classroom library!

My students would be so happy to have extra books to read at home, especially on weekends and breaks. My students love to read. My class has earned over 300 Accelerated Reader Points so far this school year. I want to be able to add more resources and materials to our classroom collection.
