My students need new books about holidays and a complete set of Junie B. chapter books, to enhance their learning experience. They love to read and need more challenging books, such as chapter books.
Do you remember picking up a good book and not being able to put it down? My students can't get enough of books and would love new books for the classroom to read on their own and also with each other.
I teach 18 eager five and six years old at an IB world magnet school where learning through inquiry is our focus.
We encourage students to be global learners and also to take control of their own learning. The school is a Title I school, which means at least 50% of the students are on free or reduced price lunch.
My Project
My students need new books about holidays and a complete set of Junie B. chapter books, to enhance their learning experience. They love to read and need more challenging books, such as chapter books. My students will use the books about holidays with our current unit of study. It will help them understand why we celebrate different holidays throughout the year. The chapter books will be a great change for them and give them something besides picture books to read. They will be able to get lost in a more in depth story on their own or with a friend. The two other books requested will be great read alouds for our classroom library.
Donations to this project will improve our classroom because surrounding kids with great literature is one of the greatest things you can do for them.
They will be exposed to new types of books and be able to dive into chapter books.
