My students are ESL Pk students. Their families come from various countries. The students are limited English speakers or may not be able to speak English. Their families do not speak English or speak very limited English. My students come from low-income families and attend a Title I school.
My students and their families were affected by Hurricane Harvey and are slowly rebuilding their homes.
This is their first adventure in school for the children. They are afraid for the first few weeks, and then they begin to learn the English language quickly. It only takes a few months until they begin understanding and speaking English.
Many of our families are still working to rebuild their homes. Some of the children are not able to play in their home and have limited toys in their temporary homes. Most of their books were ruined when the water came in their homes. Many are still not living in their homes or have their own bedrooms and toys.
My Project
All of my students come to school to learn. My students homes were flooded by Hurricane Harvey. The school was fortunate not to have water damage. During the Hurricane our new school was beginning to be built. We will be moving into our new building in a couple of weeks and would like to have new Golden Books to put in our Library center.
I hope to give the students new Golden books to read!
I hope to organize my class room and Library center so that the children look forward to reading and looking at the Golden Books. We go daily to the Library center and stretch out in our Library cushions to read!
