Our school is the bridge between lower elementary and the greater demands for self-discipline and personal responsibility expected at the junior high and high school. Our school is a Title I school and our classes are departmentalized. At our school, we prepare our students for the challenges ahead with an emphasis on curriculum along with opportunities to discover areas of strength and interest.
I love that my students are eager to learn and try new things.
They are willing to try new books that are out of their comfort zone. This is my third year teaching here, and I am excited to continue to learn about my students, the school, and the city of Coweta. My goal is to help the students discover their love for reading.
My Project
I am constantly on the lookout for new books to add to our classroom library. My students love to read series. I've noticed this year that more of my girls are reading the Dork Diaries series. I unfortunately don't have any of the books in the classroom.
The two most popular series my students want to read, I don't have them all in our library.
Throughout the past 3 years, I have lost a lot of the Diary of Wimpy Kid books. These are by far, everyone's favorite. They go so fast in our school library, so I want to have them all in our classroom. The other series that is so popular is the Sisters graphic novel series. My students love those. I used to have them all, but at my last school, they didn't make it back on the shelf and now we only have one. I want to have all these books from the series at my students' fingertips.
