Do you remember looking through your kindergarten teacher's stacks of books to find your favorite? My students would love to find a favorite book, but our classroom doesn't have any books at all!
My students are in kindergarten in Kentucky.
Our school is located in the country, outside of the city. My students love to be interactive with their friends and with the teachers. Having books in the classroom would give us a chance to connect through literature.
My Project
By having new books in our classroom, my students would be able to learn how to read. They would be seeing letters on the pages and start to connect the idea of letters forming words. These new books would also be used in discussing punctuation, word spacing, illustrations, sentences, and sequencing. Learning all these ideas, plus many more, are essential in kindergarten. We are building the foundation for reading throughout the rest of the students' lives.
A donation to this request for books will make a huge difference in the lives of so many students.
These students will be able to learn to read by seeing the letters and words on the pages. These books will be used year after year to help students learn.
