My students need magazines for more access to current events and news.
This project expired on September 30, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our social studies books have been in use for at least 9 years. I would like to provide my students with current events that we could discuss in class.
My students attend a Title I school in Texas.
Many of them do not have access to things such as a newspapers or computers at home. They come from backgrounds with limited experiences and exposures to the world outside of their own city. They are curious and want to learn about what is happening.
As I stated earlier, our social studies books are very old. I provide my students with current events using the computer at school. I would like to discuss current events with Scholastic News so that we can talk about them in the classroom, and then the students can bring home the "news" to discuss with their families. This will help to get the families more involved in their children's learning.
This publication will make a huge impact on my students.
They will be able to discuss current events at school and at home. My students will have something tangible to take home and review at any time.
