We LOVE to read! We get EXCITED by reading, but we currently don't have a spot dedicated to where we can meet to discuss, interact, debate, and just dive right into a great book together. This table would help us share, create, and learn together!
I have a wonderful group of students who adore reading!
We love finding new books and sharing our thoughts! We love telling people about what we are reading! It is such a refreshing and inspiring feeling as a teacher to have a class who truly have a passion for learning and reading. Currently, we are hooked on non-fiction! Spiders and Dinosaurs especially! We attend a small school out in the middle of a corn field. Our school is blessed with such a supportive close knit community. Even though we are small in numbers, our community and students are BIG in hearts!
My Project
If we had this table in our classroom, we would be able to set up an area that we could solely dedicate to reading and sharing. We would be able to hold reading groups at this table. They will have the opportunity to discuss and debate the books that we are reading. Students will learn how to communicate their ideas in a small group. But my main hope is that this table will continue to fuel their fire for reading. They are the ones that inspired me to try and do this. I see everyday how excited they are about new books and reading and finding out information. I want to do all I can to keep this excitement going. I believe having a "special" place where we could meet will help motivate them and encourage them to keep up their passion for reading. Since I am a new teacher, my colleagues and parents from the community are helping our classroom library grow everyday. Now we just need a place where we can come together and enjoy these great books!
This project will give me the chance to work in small groups with my students.
It will allow my students to receive that one on one attention that they all deserve. It will give them a chance to let their voice and opinions be better heard. It will help build their confidence and grow as young readers. There is no greater feeling in the world than seeing a child learn and grow right in front of your eyes. Please help us keep their passion for reading growing!
