Mrs. Carroll from Kinston NC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books to read during independent reading time that really spark their interest. They also need a carpet for another spot to stretch out and read comfortably.

I am lucky enough to teach a fantastic first-grade class. I teach at a Title I school and have a group of wonderful children who deserve the best education. Our classroom does not have enough books to fill our classroom library.
Did you know that the single factor most associated with reading achievement - more than socioeconomic status or any instructional approach - is independent reading?
You can help make this happen by donating to our project.
High interest books will encourage reading in my first grade students. After taking interest surveys of my students' reading, I have learned what some of their favorite books are. Many of my girls have requested Moana books and most boys have asked for Pete the Cat books. They also like to stretch out and have a nice place to read, so I have requested a rug.
Having books that interest my students will make them want to read!
Many of my students do not have books at home, and I am hoping to get enough books that they can take books home to read with their parents.
