My Students

Kevin Henkes is an amazing author that makes readers believe that they are in the story. His books are relevant to their lives and the struggles that they endure every day!

These students thrive on author studies and love reading many titles by the same author.

Our school has just adapted a new schedule to enhance reading and to encourage students to delve deeper into vocabulary development and character traits while reading texts over a longer period of time.

My Project

At the current time, we do not have multiple copies of the texts by Kevin Henkes we are studying. Having these multiple copies will put text in the students' hands so that their eyes can be on the text at all times. We are using texts that are slightly above their level to enable that "push" that we feel is imperative in young readers' experiences.

EVERY child will have a book in their hands!

I can tell you from experience that it makes a huge difference! We believe at our elementary school that ALL students can learn and improve their reading skills. With your help, this can happen!
