Help me give my students book bags and mini books to share their new reading skills with their families.

I am a Reading Recovery and Leveled Literacy Intervention teacher in an Urban public school where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch. The State of Ohio has implemented the Third Grade Reading Guarantee to ensure that all 3rd graders are reading at grade level before they can be promoted to 4th grade. The programs I work with are designed to help students reach this goal.
Reading Recovery is a short-term intervention for first graders having extreme difficulty with early reading and writing.
Leveled Literacy Intervention is an intense, focused small group instruction in reading and writing. My students are eager to learn how to become fluent readers and writers. Despite starting the school year behind their classmates, my students work hard to close the achievement gap.
Watching my students learn how to read books is a joyful experience. They are always eager to take a book home to read for their families. Over the course of their lessons, Reading Recovery and LLI students transform their insecurities into confidence!
My reading recovery students are so proud of their new reading skills. One of their favorite activities is taking home a book they can confidently read so that they can read it to their families. In order to keep our books in good condition, we are in need of good, sturdy book bags. We would also like to make a book for our families to keep. The Mini-Books we are requesting would be a wonderful way to share our literacy skills at home.
We love to read to our family at home every day.
Having a special bag to transport our favorite books to and from school will keep our favorite books looking new. We will take very good care of our new bags!
