Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The community that patrons our urban elementary school has diverse languages, learning abilities, background knowledge, and ethnicity. Our Title 1 school continually strives to help our students achieve knowledge and understanding that will help them succeed in today's world. We are a national award winning outstanding Community of Caring School. Our school enjoys high achievement levels due to implementation of research based practices, quality professional development, high expectations, peer coaching, parental involvement, strong dedicated staff, partnerships with universities and businesses, PLC collaboration and character education. Our elementary school is central to the well being of our families and community.
My Project
The students of my school love reading and are excited to visit the school library to checking out books. Being a Title 1 school, the students do not have the resources and materials at home to foster their love of reading.
Getting students interested in reading while in elementary school is critical as well as beneficial to their success throughout their years in school.
One way to foster this love of books and reading is through book series. When students get captivated by a story line or character and they will want to read more. Popular book series in my school library will give students more options.
