Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with English Language Learners in a low socioeconomic community. Most students I work with live in a shared household where multiple families live together to reduce the cost of living. Many of my students are children of immigrant parents who have limited education. The students I work with are eager learners and meet new challenges with enthusiasm. They always put their maximum effort and try to complete a given task to the best of their abilities.
I have a special bond with my students and this community because our school was once my school when I was an elementary school student.
I was once a student at our school many years ago. I loved this school as a student and love it even more now as a teacher. I have very fond memories of my childhood here and want to provide those same kinds of memories for my students. I work in a wonderful community and am very proud and honored to say that I am a product of the community in which I teach. My students love when I share stories of the time when I was a student at their school...our school.
My Project
Our students have played baseball throughout the year but lack the proper baseball equipment. We want our students to learn how to play baseball using baseball gloves so that they learn to catch and throw the ball. That is why we need baseball gloves so that our students experience baseball to its fullest.
Our students want to play baseball.
Learning the rules of the game, hitting the ball with the bat, and throwing the ball are all important parts of the game, but you need the baseball glove to fully experience baseball.
Students need the glove to catch the fly ball in the outfield or field that ground ball and throw it to first base. Using their bare hands is not the proper way to play baseball.
