Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in my class come with a wide range of abilities, interests, and needs. In our integrated classroom, we have respect and understanding that each individual is different, yet equally important.
My students understand that in our class, everyone gets what they need to be successful.
One common goal we all share is motivation for learning in a fun, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment. With this, we are able to meet the needs of all the different learners at the same time.
My Project
Students in my class love the author Patricia Polacco. During the school year, we have read stories written by Patricia Polacco such as, Thank you Mr. Falker, Thunder Cake, My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother, Mr. Lincoln's Way, and more!
My students love this author and always express interest in wanting to read more of her books!
We would love to add some more of Patricia Polacco's book collection to our classroom library. After learning about Patricia Polacco's past, how she only learned how to read when she was 14, some of my students related to her even more! She is proving to them that anything in life is possible, as long as you put your mind to it!
