Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is made up of English Language Learners, general education students, and students with disabilities. Even with their various learning challenges and language challenges, my students never fail to exceed my expectations, which as a teacher is always humbling. These incredible learners deserve to have the supplies they need.

My First Graders are very enthusiastic and excited learners. They just need some additional tools to get them on their way to learning.
My Project
Mo Willems is a favorite author in my first grade classroom. My students love his characters, especially Piggie and Elephant. They laugh hysterically when I read these books and are able to really remember what has happened in each book of the series.
Students who do not know English are captivated by these silly stories.
These books make it easy to teach reading strategies to students. I can also use them to teach a character study, grammar and even writing units.
These books also encourage my students to keep reading. Some of them are unable to read Mo Willems books yet, so they have made these books their goal!
