Help me give my students these literacy and math learning tools, including simple words learning locks and count and sort ovens, to help enrich their learning!
Our school is a little hidden gem on the outskirts of our town. I have taught kindergarten for the past three years, but moved to first grade this year. I am fortunate enough to know almost all of my students before the school year has even started.
My students love coming to school and they love learning.
A lot of the students come from lower income families, several have a very challenging home life, and some of our students even make up the homelessness population. However, you would never know this by their positive attitudes and kind hearts. Our county now offers 100% free lunch for all of our students to help lift the burden and help all students feel more equitable and not stand out to their peers.
My Project
My students work best when using hands on, multi-sensory materials. They love exploring new centers and I love to see them engaged in their learning.
These new math and literacy centers will keep them motivated to further their learning.
I am setting up a new light table for them and they will thoroughly enjoy using these new Light Table Simple Words Tracing Tiles. This will make for a very exciting new center to help them practice their handwriting and letter/sound recognition. The Simple Words Learning Locks will also be an excellent hands-on way to practice reading CVC words. The Play-Doh serves as a wonderful, versatile tool to practice a variety of skills, including counting, letter formation, sight word building, and many other learning activities.
For new math centers, I plan on using the Float and Find Number Bubbles in our sensory table as a counting and number recognition review. Again, this will be a very exciting new addition for them! I also plan to use the Count and Sort Ovens as a center for them to practice these skills as well. The Ten Frame Cards will be an excellent tool to teach our unit on decomposing numbers. The students learn best with visuals and these will be great to use in a variety of ways to reinforce that skill.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider investing in my students' learning! They always love new learning experiences and this teacher loves providing them with those experiences!
