My students need Magnetic Letter Builders to aid them in letter learning and handwriting, Alphabet Rockets for learning and reviewing first letter sounds, and Twist & Turns for decoding simple words.
Our room is a wonderfully diverse classroom full of eager learners! One of the greatest things about us is that we have friends from all over the world-from America to Europe to Asia! We learn together, play together, and grow together. We look forward to centers, love meeting with our teacher in reading groups, and welcome homework. We even ask for extra homework!
Take a step into our classroom and you will see that there is learning happening in every space.
We are quickly becoming independent learners that are responsible for ourselves and the learning of others. There is a great focus on communicating with one another and problem solving.
One thing we are learning is that our differences make us who we are! We accept that not all students enjoy the same things, and understand that not all students learn the same way. This is the foundation of what makes us so special.
My Project
These materials will be incredibly beneficial for students' literacy learning. They will be wonderful additions to the Word Work and Writing centers in our classrooms. With these materials, students will be able to practice first sound fluency, spelling, rhyming, and forming uppercase letters.
Multi-sensory learning tools benefit each student's unique learning style.
Fun hands-on activities are engaging, help increase attitudes towards learning, and improve achievement. Magnetic Letter Builders will allow students to practice creating and naming their uppercase letters. Research shows that letter naming is the most important indicator of later reading success! Twist & Turns will be a fun addition to the writing center. The students can make words to read, write, and illustrate. It also has combinations that are not real words, so students can practice their decoding by reading nonsense words. I Can Build Simple Words is a great activity for differentiating learning because on one side of the card the students will match letters to spell the word, and on the other side they have to fill in a missing letter to complete the word. Finally, the Rhyming Sounds Teaching Tubs will allow children to group together objects that rhyme in a more engaging way than matching pictures on a worksheet. It is so important to focus on early literacy; even more so with the 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee.
I want students to love learning and be able to work through their difficulties. By providing a variety of hands-on learning tools, each child will have something engaging to work with on their own individual literacy level. My class will be able to see that learning is all around us, and it's really fun!
