My students need an iPad to do all the things that will make them successful in this 21st century learning environment and allow them to do it in a way that's enjoyable and stimulating.
My second graders are energetic and eager to learn! They come to school with many challenges but always want to do their best. I am just amazed by them!
As students in the 21st Century, they love to work and learn on technology.
Many of my students are economically needy and do not have access to today's technology at home. I would like to provide as many opportunities as possible to them so they are ready for the world they live in.
My Project
Students love to work on iPads and they love to make videos of themselves, so why not use that in the classroom with their education! My students would like an iPad to use various apps like Epic!, an app which allows them to read and/or listen to books. Also, they would like to start using the app Flipgrid in order to share their work/answers and thinking with their peers. This will allow them to give voice to their learning in a creative and relevant way. They can then respond to their peer's response, further demonstrating their thinking and helping others reflect on their response/thinking. They will be able to use the iPads for various uses such as Reading Counts, Discovery Education, Front Row Ed, and many other educational sites to learn and practice skills in a relevant way.
Having iPads in the classroom will allow them to practice skills and show their knowledge and thinking in a creative way while also helping to make them responsible digital citizens.
