Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students need a listening center! Students enjoy listening to stories/music on cassette/Cd's. It helps them develop their reading skills by following along in the book while the story is read to them. The listening center will be an important and useful tool during independent work time.
My 24 kindergarten students are wonderful kids who love to be challenged, want to learn how read and write, and have fun while doing it.
They live in an impoverished area and most are second language learners. The school is a Title 1 school and all of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. By having a listening center in the classroom would benefit my students especially those who are learning english.
My Project
A listening center will help student's learning by building vocabulary increase their knowledge of different genres. They will be able to listen to stories on tapes and follow along while the story is read to them. books and become confident writers. by following along in the story books as the words are read to them. They will listen to songs that will teach them the alphabet, rhymes, and vocabulary. Learning new words will help their writing skills thus creating confident writers.
Having a listening center in the classroom will be awesome.
It will be a powerful tool to help student's learning, sharpen their reading skills, increase vocabulary, and motivate them to get Their seat work done. The listening center will be a time for them to learn songs, listen to stories, learn new words and have fun doing it. This project will transform independent work time allowing 4 to 6 students at a time to use the center. Please help fund this wonderful project.
