My students need this learning shapes and colors activity carpet to help them have personal space when we are learning.
My students amaze me every day with their love for learning.
Our classroom is always full of laughter and fun while exploring new concepts and ideas. We learn and grow together each and every day.
In my inclusive classroom, I have English language learners, students who speak English as a second language, as well as students receiving SPED services.
Our school has been Title I in past years, as most of our students are classified as "disadvantaged." We did not not make the Title I status this year, as we were not able to get enough families to turn in the paperwork. Our population is half free or reduced-price lunch, therefore very much in need. We have a wonderful campus filled with faculty members and staff who are committed to providing the best educational environment possible for our students. We take pride in fostering important values such as our 3 B's: be responsible, be safe, and be respectful. These values represent our overall goal of "mutual respect and shared responsibility." I am truly lucky to be a part of this school!
My Project
Each and every day, my students engage in collaborative learning. I find students are most engaged when working closely together in small groups or pairs. We regularly have classroom discussions at the front of the room, where students use the think-pair-share procedure to build on ideas and strengthen understanding. Students love having a voice in the classroom! My class LOVES engaging in tableaus (integrating the arts), learning stations, and much more! We always do our whole group learning at the carpet, which enables us to build upon each others' understanding through meaningful conversations. Having a rug with individual squares will help my students have their own personal and organized space when sitting at the carpet. It can also be used to make quick groupings (using the color squares), which helps mix up the pairings/groups.
This carpet is a much needed addition to our classroom and will provide my students with a comfortable and safe place to learn.
Learning time will no longer have the distraction of finding a space to sit. Students can immediately dive in and get their brains to work!
