This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 4- and 5-year-old early learning students. These are students who are delayed. Some of the students have autism. Others have cognitive delays. Then there are others who have been labeled developmentally delayed. This is a self-contained special needs population.
What makes the kids special is that all of them learn in different ways.
This can be challenging yet exciting at the same time because I really get to know how my children think and what they can do.
My Project
My class is a special needs classroom and everything that my children will need to learn will have to be hands on. These activities that I have chosen will help my students learn by pointing to letters by touching the letters to learn the letter shapes and then begin to learn to write. Items such as these, helps my children visualize what they learn and is good for long term recognition. I am hoping that with the use of these activities, my children will begin to connect with literacy and ultimately learn to love letters. I hope I have your support.
