My Students

I teach a classroom of 'differently abled' students who learn in many different ways. They require specialized instruction to learn and thrive when given learning opportunities using technology.

We are a Functional Academics program.

These students are determined, loving, and just amazing in general. The students within this program have diagnoses such as Autism and Downs Syndrome. They struggle with showing the world how smart and wonderful they are because they have a hard time communicating. Some use special computers or pictures to 'talk' while others use their voices.

My Project

Our classroom is requesting an Elmo document camera. These document cameras are similar to an overhead projector, however they project the papers that are placed under instead of needing to be copied onto a transparency. Our classroom will use this Elmo to show examples of student work, project pictures from story books, and to show how to complete other learning tasks (such as how to read a ruler or how to use a geo board). Because our students are visual learners, using an Elmo will assist experientially in their learning.

Our project will allow students to show off their skills, to use technology to enhance their learning.

Students can project teacher work samples, student work samples, and anything else that they can think of.
