Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love coming to school every day. I teach 24 wonderful and enthusiastic kindergartners. A majority of my students are English Language Learners, with Spanish or Vietnamese as their first language.
My school is a Title I school in California.
A full 81% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students may not have many material things, but they always try their best and never give up. They are hard workers, and I am so proud of my students!
My Project
My students love to read and they enjoy being read to. One of their all time favorite author is Dr. Seuss. I am requesting a variety of Dr. Seuss books to give to my students for Read Across America Day. This day is also known as Dr. Seuss' birthday, which is on March 2. My students have been exposed to many Dr. Seuss books such as The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. The books I am requesting for are beginner books which are more at my students reading level. My students would love to own a Dr. Seuss book and they will cherish it. The donations of books will make Read Across America Day extra special for my students!
