This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our elementary school is located right outside of Pittsburgh, PA. We host students from preK-6th grade who come from various cultural backgrounds. Unfortunately, many of our students live under the poverty line and lack the home experiences that help them succeed at school.
My students love to play, learn, explore, and create!
As their teacher, it's my job to get them ready for kindergarten, but more importantly, make them love school. It's my goal to provide them with all the opportunities possible to give them the best start in school and in life!
My Project
Children learn many skills from playing with LEGO toys, such as science, math, and literacy skills. Currently, we have two LEGO sets that are used every day. My students would love different sets to expand their imagination, build fine motor skills, and learn cooperative play.
Specifically, the playground, vehicle, and farm LEGO sets will build knowledge of those areas and allow their imagination to flourish.
As many people know, play is essential to the development of young children. Toys like LEGO encourage play with purposeful materials that build upon topics that are already familiar to children. Thank you for reading and considering to donate to my project!
