I have a class of 20 energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing students. Our school is a Title I school where most students come from low-income or poverty-stricken homes. All of the students receive free or reduced-rate lunch. Most are English Language Learners, while some have special needs. These students come to school eager to learn every day with big smiles on their faces, regardless of their circumstances.
I want to help these students in every way that I can in order for them to be successful in reaching their goal of developing their skills, and of course, have fun!
The best of part of teaching to me is the fact that I can instill my love and fondness of books into my students and see the enjoyment in their faces when they listen to a story. Whenever I hear the words, "can you please read it again?" truly makes me feel good inside. The unfortunate thing is the amount of limited books that is in our classroom library. As of right now, I am either borrowing books from my coworkers or bringing in books from home.
The books that I am requesting for my class are favorites that they have listened to throughout the year.
These books will be accessible to the students in their library during independent reading time and changed out every month. I believe this will further enhance their fondness of books! Please help build our classroom library with these fun books!
