My Students
I teach K-5 students in a rural community in North Carolina. Our students are creative and love to learn. They work hard to do the best job they can and strive to improve. Like all children, they are motivated by hands-on experiences that teach them real-life skills. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds. We have students who are affluent and those whose families struggle. We have a large ESL population and many students have ties to family in other countries.
My Project
My students love to read. They get so excited about new books but our reading scores need to improve and I believe great reading materials and a genuine love of reading is the answer! Providing engaging materials for our students to read is the solution! We've made great strides in improving our collection but we still need your help and support. My budget is very limited. $1000 a year translates into about 50 books. It's impossible to keep materials relevant and up to date with a very limited budget. You can help supplement our collection with new, engaging and interesting books.
