My school is a public Early Childhood Center in rural South Carolina. My students come from a high poverty area with over 80% of the school receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our school teaches students using the Montessori method. In my classroom, I have 24 students between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. In our Montessori classroom, you will find students moving about the room as they please and choosing lessons throughout the day that help them develop a sense of order, concentration, coordination and independence. Our class is full of curious and energetic students who are excited about learning!
My Project
One of my students' favorite things is listening to stories being read aloud. The look on their faces as they are listening to a really great story is priceless. A good book can captivate an audience by taking them down on the farm, on a walk with dinosaurs, under the sea to swim with fish or to a land far far away.
A good book allows children to visit worlds they may never get a chance to experience in real life.
After we read a big book at line time, my students will go back and retell the story over and over with their peers. By donating to my project, you will give my students a chance to go to new destinations through new stories and books.
