We Love a Colorful, Invigorating Environment to Learn In!
My students need a new bright colored rug for our classroom's daily meeting area and various hands-on manipulatives to practice our letters and numbers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in our classroom are amazing kindergarten students. Coming to school, for them, has to incorporate an invigorating and stable environment especially since it may be their first exposure to school with rules and routines that need to be established and learned
They are enrolled in an urban district, facing many challenges, in and out of school.
We are a very big school, with over 800 students. At times, funding does not flow easily.
I want them to feel welcome, accepted, challenged, and able to do their best. Their first school experience should be a wonderful adventure!
My Project
These requested materials will help students feel welcome and excited about coming to school. The colorful carpet, that will be used for gathering on for our morning meeting time, will help the students feel an ownership of our classroom. It will be utilized during our school day for listening to books and stories, comprehension and discussion times, and reviewing necessary skills to get ready for first grade. Sitting on a big, colorful carpet will help the students to feel a part of a comfortable, creative group and allow for sharing time and getting to know their other classmates very well.
We will use the manipulatives for a hands-on approach to learning.
We need to master our letter and number identification, letter sounds, and learning to read. The students can use these learning tools to gain social, academic, and fine motor skills. They can be creative alone or with others and be engaged learners through their free selection times with these manipulatives. Our ultimate goal is to get ready for first grade and by funding this project, you can feel proud that you are helping these children!
