My students need flexible seating, like stools, wobble seats, and beanbags, to choose their own way to learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are happy, energetic, and excited to learn. They love to explore new things and are constantly moving! Their school has recently become a Title I school. This means that a large percentage of students are living in poverty. As a teacher in a low-income school, my students are faced with several challenges both in school and out. Despite the challenges that they face everyday, they have a classroom environment that they know is safe and welcoming.
How do to I reach a diverse group of learners who come from all walks of life?
Let them wiggle!
My Project
Flexible seating allows my students to be comfortable and engaged in the best way they can learn. During independent work time they can choose a seat in the classroom that works best for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or sitting or laying on the carpet with a clip board. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, who they sit with, and are more engaged to get their work completed.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The balance balls will allow my students to get their jitters out and exercise their core while being able to concentrate. The comfy floor seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options and can also be used on regular chairs to allow students to move while working. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The small chairs can be used at the Guided Reading table to allow more students to sit together and can easily stack to save room. They are also lightweight and can be moved around the room.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more! Thank you for reading my project.
