I have 49 students enrolled in my two kindergarten classes (24 in the morning and 25 in the afternoon). We are a title I school and service a beautiful, diverse, ethnic population. I have students who will be receiving special education services.
We are a lighthouse school participating in the Leader in Me program.
Students will be learning the seven habits of becoming leaders in the community. We are working hard to incorporate technology into our curriculum and it has been very successful in helping students prepare for their future roles in society.
My Project
The engineering kits, magnet kits, dolls, alphabet sound puzzles and an energy stick will help my students work together to create motion, magnetic force, electricity and dramatic play as they communicate with each other.
Kindergarten students learn better with hands-on experiences.
The items we have requested will help students touch engineering, magnets, letter sounds, and electricity. We will use some of the items in whole group discussion. The alphabet sound puzzles will be used to help our struggling learners with hands on manipulation of each letter with pictures that reinforce the letter sound.
I plan to use most of the items in small group centers where children will work together to figure out how to build, connect, and communicate with each other.
