This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Thank you so much for helping the children in my classroom. I am a 2nd-grade teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school, with 91% of my students qualifying for the free or reduced lunch program at our school. Our Title I school and my precious students need your help.
I am a teacher with limited financial resources.
I desperately want my students to have the best chance at success by having what every child should have, a well-supplied and fun learning environment that has what they need for academic growth and learning. However, as a single foster and adoptive mom I just don't have the income to buy the things I really want my students to have.
My Project
We need to improve the diversity in our classroom library. Books are so essential to every classroom and yet, unless a teacher provides them, our students won't get one in their classroom. My goal is to also make indoor recess a time for my students to play games and have positive social interactions with each other. Indoor recess can be a real bummer. I want this project to provide my students with some fun and entertaining activities to play during their indoor recess.
I can't wait for my students to see more of themselves in the books they read and still have fun even if it's indoor recess.
This equipment would help my students engage in social interaction and better diversify our classroom library. This project would provide my student with options during indoor recess or free time in the classroom. The students would be able to play Smart Toss, Bean Bag Toss, and catch. These students are going through a lot of hard situations and most are worrying about things they shouldn't have to worry about. I want these students to be kids and have fun and see themselves in books they read in our classroom, especially books in science like the Scientific Thinking books in this project.
