This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach Title I preschoolers who live in a low-income area. Our school provide services for PreK - 5th graders and we provide an autism program for our area which has 55 students. Over half of our school population receives ESOL services. Many of them come from areas where funds are very limited, so we try very hard to bring as many resources as possible to their world. Most live in low-income housing and school plays a big part of their daily needs. The students are so special and we would like to continue to promote a fun healthy lifestyle during outdoor recess time.
My Project
Our students have balls to use for basic gross motor skills like rolling a ball. These materials will have them gain advanced motor skills in balancing and extension skills. We have very limited equipment for outdoor learning, including one slide and a flip bar. This equipment will allow us to set up two more centers when we are doing outdoor learning time. Students will be able to learn team sportsmanship using the hoops like taking turns. Learning to problem solve simple math skills in distance by estimating how far to stand to make a basket. The bouncing balls will really help our little clumsy angels strengthen their leg muscles while having fun. This equipment will also help with stimulation for our very active angels.
