Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am honored to work with students that come from very diverse backgrounds. We are a Title I school, and 92% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. I love Franklin D. Roosevelt's quote, "A calm sea never made a skilled sailor" because that applies to our school. Everyone involved in our school works hard, every day, to ensure that our kiddos have the best opportunities possible.
Our students create, inspire, and motivate each other in everything they do!
They are curious learners and work hard to develop problem-solving and collaboration skills, in their everyday activities. We do many projects, throughout the year, to give the kiddos hands-on experiences that will mean something to them and be relevant to their lives. We are STEM certified, and we have lots of projects going on, all over the school, to help with this initiative.
My Project
In my 2nd grade class this year, I have a lot of students that are very active learners. They love to move and learn!
We will use the different styles of seating (ottomans) to have free choice of seating arrangements throughout our learning day.
The students will be allowed to choose their seat for the day in order to give them the responsibility of knowing what fits their learning style.
My students learn best through movement and interaction with each other. The flexible seating allows the students to channel their energy and focus better during the times when they have to be still and listen!
