I could not be more excited for the opportunity I have been given this year. I get the honor of teaching children who are so engaged in learning, who are invested in their education, and who care so very deeply about not only their successes, but the success of those around them.
These children come from all walks of life, neighborhoods all across Philadelphia, and, because of them, this school is incredibly diverse.
The children learn how to be Global Citizens as early as Kindergarten. They are taught how to be lifelong learners and contributors of society. My students are going to change the world - I have no doubt about that!
My Project
I can't sit still for six hours per day, why do we expect children to? It is not developmentally appropriate for them to be stationary for so long nor is it comfortable and feasible. Some people, children and adults, need to self stimulate throughout the day; and, if that can help them learn better and be more focused, without distracting their peers, I should do everything in my power to help them.
I want the Bouncy Bands for Chairs to give my students the ability to bounce their feet on it when they need activity or movement, but are restricted due to their assignments.
The fidget toys will also help keep them occupied and focused, especially while on the carpet for our Mini-Lessons. And, these toys and bands are all QUIET, so they won't distract any of the other students.
