"Every student can learn. Just not on the same day or in the same way."-George Evans.
Do you learn best sitting still or when you can tap your feet or move your legs? My kiddos learn best when they are free to move as much as they can, and these stability balls will give them the freedom to do that!
My students are some of the most loving, energetic, caring kids I know.
We recently received a grant from Donors Choose for 5 tables. We are SO excited! It is now our goal to obtain stability balls to use with our tables. If you have ever been around a group of 7-8 year olds, you know they all have at least one thing in common, lots of ENERGY! My kiddos retain more information when they have the freedom to move and get their wiggles out rather than sitting still in one place.
My Project
My students will use the stability balls with the 5 tables Donors Choose helped us fund by replacing chairs with the stability balls. Research shows that when your body is engaged in learning, your brain is engaged in learning. The stability balls will give my little ones a chance to bounce as they learn, strengthen their core, and release some of their energy all while learning at the same time. The stability balls help them maintain focus, because they aren't worried about trying to keep themselves still constantly. I have seen the wonders these stability balls can work in classrooms and I am hopeful that my students will have the chance to experience this first hand.
Not only will these stability balls help maintain the focus of my students during the school day, it will help them strengthen their core muscles and expel energy at the same time.
Kids need to have movement as often as possible in their day, and this will give my students the chance to move as often and as much as they need.
