Our class is the best class in the world.
My classroom is a gifted/special education inclusion at a Title I school. I teach a very wide range of learners, including students with learning disabilities. Some of these students' minds are racing at such a fast pace that it is hard for them to focus on classroom assignments.
My Project
I have heard stories of handwriting improvement miracles, increased attention span, and a new found love of learning. These miracles are all attributed to a certain type of chair! In our classroom, we do a lot of work in partners, small group instruction, meetings on the carpet, and as much moving around as possible. We even take yoga breaks! However, sometimes students will have to work at their desks. There are those children who I feel bad reprimanding for getting out of their seat without permission because I know they really cannot help it. These two Hokki stools will be the answer! The children move without even knowing they are moving! It releases energy and increases the time spent focusing and learning! Oh yes, she must be mine!
These stools could be the path to neutralizing disadvantages faced by those with certain learning disabilities and the key to setting them up for success.
These wonderful students deserve to have every tool at their disposal.
