Help me give my students access to multisensory learning and learning through play! This includes a rug, real-working cash register, Magna-Tiles, sports equipment, and story sequencing cards.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Fully Self Contained (FSC) Special Education classroom. My students are with me majority of the day and leave to their GenEd classrooms for morning routine and fun activities. I have a classroom full of dedicated and loving skills trainers and together we ensure our students are striving for their academic and behavior goals throughout the year.
My students are silly, expressive, and adventurous kids who enjoy multisensory learning and exploring through play.
With your help, we can continue to grow and learn!
My Project
I teach my students through the use of play and multisensory exploration in all my lessons. These materials will help me to guide their learning in a way that is fun and intriguing. My students will use the real-working cash register during centers to order and pay for food in our play kitchen. Through this play, they will practice communication and money skills. There is a soccer ball, kickball, volleyball/badminton set, and parachute for our physical education. Also included is a rug for our reading area, a collection of new guided reading books and story sequencing cards for our reading block, Magna-Tiles, Science Senses Around Town board game, and LEGO bricks for STEAM.
I've set a goal for myself to create a classroom environment where motivation for learning is driven intrinsically and occurs organically through play and exploration.
In my first year of teaching, I hope to reach this goal and so much more. With your support, the students will have the materials to drive their learning to new places. My students and I thank your for your contribution!
