As a teacher in a Title I school, the students I serve come to school on a daily basis, carrying much stress from home with them. Stress for many of these students includes: speaking a language other than English as their main language, not having enough food to eat, being afraid of situations going on in their neighborhood, or mental illness suffered by either them or their family members.
Despite all the issues these students come to school with, they come each day and try their best to succeed and grow, all with a smile and a positive attitude.
These students are active, vocal, engaged, and determined to achieve and do their best.
My students want to be teachers, doctors, scientists, and more when they grow up. They don't let anything hold them back in their dreams and persevere against all odds.
My students work hard each and every day in and out of the classroom. Sadly, many of them still have great deficits in their basics skills, which can impact their ability to be successful.
The use of technology in the classroom has helped my students take control of their own learning and fill educational gaps, leading them to be successful on grade level material.
My students are proud of the growth that they have made, and they have a lot of fun continuing to grow the more they use it.
Recently, we have even been able to use the computers to enhance our science curriculum. Allowing them to research topics they are interested in and creating from there. These Chromebooks help my students in so many ways, educationally and with their confidence.
