Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so honored and privileged to teach 26 energetic and amazing kindergarten students every day! My school is in a multicultural, low socioeconomic area in a large urban city. My students come from hardworking, struggling, caring families who may not be able to afford expensive educational materials for their children. In spite of these circumstances, my students come to school excited and eager to learn everything they can!
My students are eager and enthusiastic about becoming expert readers, writers, and learners!
Our number one goal in kindergarten is to learn to read, write, and develop number sense! My students love reading and listening to both fiction and non-fiction texts every day.
My Project
Learning should be fun, especially in kindergarten! My students are experiencing many firsts this year such as adjusting to a full school day, learning to follow directions, and learning many new skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
My kindergarten students need frequent movement activities and brain-breaks to keep them focused, motivated, and excited about learning.
The school day can be very overwhelming for five and six year-old students!
My students will be able to build sight-word recognition one step at a time—with The Sight-Word Steps skill-building mats that create an active learning environment! The Soft & Safe Ring Toss Game will enable my students to develop muscle control and coordination as they play! The easy-grip, squeezable Soft & Safe Comet Ball Game will allow my children to develop their listening skills, gross motor skills, as well as build their social skills.
My students will build vital skills necessary for success in kindergarten by experiencing these fun and educational games.
