This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 1st grade at a Title I elementary school in Texas. My students come to school everyday eager to learn with a smile on their face. They want to become better leaders, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and better students.
A lot of my students were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Their homes were flooded and they lost all of their personal belonging. School is where they feel the safest. They are learning how to grow emotionally, socially, and in their academics. They are truly amazing!
My Project
These books will make a huge difference in my students' learning. They will use these books to read on the correct level. They will become fluent, better readers, and better spellers when they read these books. My students will grow in their reading. We will use the books during guided reading, and for independent reading. The books will help my students become more confident in their reading skills and they will want to read more!
First grade is a huge year where students start to grasp the foundations of reading.
In order for them to do that, they will need these guided reading books. The guided reading books will be the perfect level for them. The books will help them become confident readers.
