My students need 25 Vis-a-Vis markers, 75 thin black dry erase markers, 10 sets of assorted color dry erase markers, and 8 erasers to use with their dry erase boards.
The other day I heard one of my students say, "I just want to cry, because my markers are dry! How can I show what I know?"
My second graders come from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
Some have traveled to other countries and others have never left our state. As their teacher, I am responsible for helping each child learn the content and clarify any misunderstandings they may have.
My Project
On a daily basis my students use their individual dry erase markers to solve math problems, practice their spelling words, answer questions of the day, and show their understandings of the content we are learning each day. This is a quick and easy way for a teacher to ask a question and scan the room to assess students for clarity or confusion.
No time is wasted passing out papers with dry erase boards. My students love using them to show what they know. Last year my class was fortunate enough to receive a grant for a class set of dry erase boards, small erasers for each student and a class set of markers. Those dry erase boards are being used again this year and still look brand new.
We are however in need of 8 erasers to replace those that have been lost and we really need lots and lots of dry erase markers. Thin ones, thick ones, black ones, blue ones! Any color will do!
We are entering the last nine weeks of the school year and need every resource available to ensure our students are ready for the third grade.
Will you please support us so we can continue to show what we know?
