My students are from many different ethnic backgrounds, including African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian. They range in ability and instructional levels from special needs to gifted.
Because we are a Title One school.
Many of my students fall into the low economic status category which can deprive them of the opportunities to become successful. Our school provides a positive learning environment and is dedicated to the successful learning of all our students. It is warm and inviting to all children, parents, and teachers.
My Project
My students love to move whether it is outside at recess, in the gym, or in the classroom. They have asked for equipment such as BalanceFrom Anti-Burst and Slip Resistant Fitness Balls, Gaiam Kids Stay-N-Play Balance Balls, Trademark Innovations Fitness and Balance Disc Seat, Bouncy Bands for Chairs, and yoga mats to allow movement in the classroom. With these materials, my students say they can move while they are learning.
My students have also requested recess equipment.
They are always having to borrow sports balls from other classes or the coach. They would love to have jump ropes, flying discs, and sports balls to call their own. They want to have more time to play and move at recess and by having their own equipment, this can be made possible.
According to my students, indoor recess is not nearly as fun as outdoor recess. However, when bad weather strikes, we have no choice but to stay inside. With the American Educational Products Cubes with Actions Numbers Fitness Dice, we can make indoor recess more fun by rolling the dice and performing the exercises shown. This will also provide an opportunity for my students to learn different exercises.
