This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our town could be considered a 'melting pot' of diverse ethnicities, strengths, and needs. My school specifically is the largest elementary in the district, serving approximately 500 students. We have students of all backgrounds, including many who have traveled here from outside of the country. Our students come from homes that speak over 20 different languages, bringing their cultures and languages to the class. We also have students who have a sensitive home life. This creates a learning environment that is challenging yet rewarding for students and staff alike.

My Project

I am requesting every day supplies such as hand soap, tissues, disinfecting cleaner, and gloves to help keep germs under control. These items begin to go quick as the winter months approach, and we all know the abundance of sicknesses that will arise. I am also requesting a computer mouse for each student so they can navigate through their assignments with ease. Having a computer mouse rather than depending on the mouse board allows us to continue to keep germs at bay; we can simply spray the mouse between uses! The mouse is also beneficial for our younger students as they learn to navigate the online curriculum.
