Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach in an elementary school in the south side of Chicago that is in the early stages of building a music program. Thanks to the generosity of numerous Donors Choose contributors, our elementary school has been fortunate enough to obtain 10 full sized violins and 2 3/4 sized violins for student use. There are now 12 enthusiastic musicians using these instruments. We now need student music books and replacement violin strings for the violins. Our school is located in a low-income community of Chicago, and we are unable to provide these items for students. We depend on the generosity of Donors Choose to support these violinists as they continue to study their instrument. We appreciate your generosity! For this proposal I am requesting 12 Essential Elements Level 1 violin books, 6 sets of full sized violin strings, and 2 sets of 3/4 violin strings.
