Each day when I walk around my room, extending knowledge to our future, I am faced with curious expressions and the willingness to explore and examine the world. I am surrounded by sixty-five plus lives going on inside heads and emotions being stored that I may be unaware of. Although they come from various backgrounds, neighborhoods, and families, my students are no different from any other children. They want safety, validation, and love. They need fun and connections to the people in their environments.
My students are the energy that drives me.
They encourage me to design engaging activities that allow them to question, hypothesize, and draw conclusions based on their observations and inferences. Their energy and excitement for life motivates me to provide them with as many opportunities available as part of my classes.
My Project
My students need access to a set of headphones each day when they are in the classroom. I am lucky enough to have a class set of ThinkPads in my classroom for student use. We have the benefit of learning through webquests, video, Google Drive, Nearpod, Kahoot, Newsela, and many other web based programs that give students the opportunity to explore and create.
Each time a start a computer based activity I say "Get out your headphones!" Some students come prepared with their own pair.
However many forget them at home or cannot afford them. I would like to be able to provide them with a set for check at in order for them to have equal opportunity for learning in this way.
