Ms. Shen from Philadelphia PA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need classroom mailboxes as a better way to receive important school papers. We also need Bell No Yell, stopwatch, batteries, magnets, and dry erase markers.

Without any desks, my students sit at tables and have seat sacks for their personal things. Mixed in their seat sacks full of folders, notebooks, binders, books, pencil cases, and coloring supplies, there may be loose papers that never seem to may its way into their daily communication folder.
My students attend a charter school in PA, where everyone come from various low income areas.
My fourth grade class consists of 23 students of mixed abilities, and are most below grade level in reading. They are an energetic group of students, who are curious about the world around them.
These classroom mailboxes will be a lifesaver in helping my students become more organized and more responsible. The mailboxes will make it easier to hand out important papers to each individual student in one central location. They can keep their daily communication folder in their mailboxes as well, to ensure they leave school everyday with this folder and any papers they need to bring home. The other supplies will be used daily, especially since we utilize our magnetic dry erase board everyday for all of our subjects. Through group work, partner work, or independent work, there are various times throughout the day where they need to complete an activity within a time frame, which our timer will be used for. Also, as an alternative for getting the class's attention, the No Yell Bell will definitely capture their eyes and ears.
Donating to this project will give our class a much needed organizational unit that will decrease the number of students losing papers which I hand them in the beginning of the day and those who seemingly are forgetful and leave things behind.
Creating a new routine using these classroom mailboxes will allow students to gain more responsibility and better prepare them for the upper grades. Being organized is an important skill that these mailboxes will help our class with.
