My Students

Our students are a diverse and talented group that come from a variety of backgrounds. We are a bedroom community for Rapid City, so we have families that are employed away from town. We have a large number of families employed in the timber industry which adds to our diverse student backgrounds. We have a percentage of migrant students that come from differing educational backgrounds that we welcome into our district.

We have a 14:1 classroom ratio, which allows our students the chance to experience to explore, create, and take ownership of their learning.

Our students really enjoy competitive games during recess. They are driven, competitive, and very athletic group of kids.

My Project

Was that a goal? Now we can answer that question, with a real soccer goal! Our students love to play soccer. Right now, they are setting up cones as the goals. By having real soccer goals, the students will be able to delineate whether it was a goal or not, putting an end to recess conflict and allowing more time to release energy.

The soccer goals used now are cones placed on the edge of the field, allowing for imagination.

Students will be excited to have real goals! They are a very competitive group who will use these goals at every recess.
