Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Most of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies. Unfortunately, some of the students are experiencing homelessness, which can mean that they lack items to meet their most basic needs.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
If you have ever know a four to six year old child, you know that they are full of excitement and energy. These words describe my kindergarten students. They learn best through visual and hands on activities. This means that we have a lot of "stuff" in our classroom. We have great picture books, awesome math supplies, fun art supplies and basic school supplies. All of these items need to be organized, so students can have easy access to them.
I am requesting sturdy book bins, so that we can organize our classroom books and supplies.
I am trying to help my students learn how to be successful students and eventually successful adults. Good organizational skills in one of the necessary components to being successful in life. By helping organize our classroom materials, students will start to learn these skills.
Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea. I know that this project is not as exciting as book, art supply or technology projects, but it is important for my students to be able to access their supplies and to learn about organization.
